Best advice:

– “Do your work. Study hard. The basic stuff.”

– College is a place of opportunity, and people want to take advantage of every opportunity they can get. So having the mindset of doing your work and studying hard will propel you in the right direction.

Resources:

– SASC

– Asking classmates/teammates

– “Everyone probably said this but SASC, asking teammates or classmates for help, I know it sounds like basic stuff but it’s good at its core.”

– “Everyone has their own group of people that they can connect with. Find that group and exceed to new heights.”

Least useful advice:

– “Figure it out by yourself (don’t use SASC).”

– “A junior my freshman year told me to just figure it out myself, SASC is just more of a pain to deal with, and I almost listened until I came to my senses and thought, ‘What is she talking about? A place that will help you with school work is never a bad place to go.'”

Best advice:

– Time management is everything. If you can’t fit in time to do your work, you won’t last.

– Cycle the snap – we use it in football, don’t let the negatives affect the positives throughout your day.

– Give it time; you might not love it here right away, but over time, you find your group and activities to do on and off campus, and your time here gets much better.

Best resources on campus:

– SASC: SASC is the key when you’re struggling with classes; they take you step by step throughout the work you’re struggling with.

– Your peers: Work together in the study spaces throughout campus and dorms to help each other when you have projects or work you’re having trouble with.

Least useful advice:

– Don’t be afraid to transfer if you don’t like it right away. When I heard that, it felt like just giving up right away.

– Don’t listen to the teachers and just get the work done. If you do that, you’ll get lost when the quizzes and exams come.

Key Takeaways:

– Do your work and study hard.

– Utilize SASC and seek help from classmates/teammates.

– Find your group for academic success.

– Prioritize time management.

– Maintain a positive mindset and give college time to adjust.

– Engage with your teachers and understand the coursework for quiz and exam success.

– Don’t hastily consider transferring; give it time.
