Additional Resources

Library

The library is full of useful resources to help with studying and research. It is a great study space on its own, but there are also study rooms available that can help provide a distraction-free environment. There are also research resources that can make writing papers so much easier. In addition to the books that are in the library, on the library’s website there are databases full of research articles, journals and books about every subject. You can also get textbooks from the library. Most textbooks there have to remain in the library while being used, but it is still incredibly helpful if you do not have your own copy, and it can help you regulate your study time. They’re open until midnight most nights, and if you need help with something specific and can’t get to the library, there is a live chat available on their website

SASC

The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) is located on the second floor of the Commons. Students come here for help with their classes and papers, and learn from students who have been in their same classes before. SASC is a great place to prepare for exams, write and revise essays, and get advice about study habits and learning the course material. You can schedule an appointment with SASC through TutorTrac, and you can email sasc@une.edu for assistance and questions.

Office Hours

Professors’ office hours are also an invaluable resource to students. If you can’t attend their hours in person, email them; most professors are willing to set up a separate meeting or will at the very least answer your questions. Even if you don’t have a specific problem, you can still go to office hours and just work/study there until you do have a question. Professors will have their office hours written somewhere in their course syllabus.

Peers and Study Groups

One of the greatest resources available to you at UNE is your peers. Making study groups and having people in classes who you can ask questions to, are just a couple of examples of how students can support each other in their education. Making friends or even just acquaintances in classes can be really helpful if you did not understand part of the lesson or if you could not be in class and need to ask about what work or content you’ve missed. Study groups and study partners are also very helpful, because this allows you to set up a time to specifically meet and be productive, and many people find that having others working alongside them helps them stay focused and motivated. You can ask friends to study with you or use the study groups feature on the Navigate app.
